BRAIN MOLDING
In recent devotionals, we’ve been talking about the brain and some of the growing issues that are plaguing us in our worldwide community.
Strokes, migraines, and dementia are among the top ten neurological conditions contributing to the deterioration of our health globally.
According to the Cleveland Clinic the brain can convert mental stress into physical manifestations. While thoughts are not shown to be directly related to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, they do play a key factor in mental health conditions. Thoughts matter!
There are proven connections shown between mental health condition and brain functioning, like depression, anxiety, and OCD.
Our thoughts also influence our brain chemistry. Negative thought patterns can have long term health effects on brain health. Some well-known conditions like schizophrenia involve thought disorder. Negative thinking has been linked to other illnesses like heart disease, stroke, and even type 2 diabetes.
Thoughts are not the sole source of all brain and health issues, but they have been proven to be a contributing factor.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that over 1 in 3 people have been affected by some type of neurological condition which is the leading cause of illnesses and disabilities worldwide.
Brain diseases, including mental and neurological disorders, are projected to increase significantly globally in the upcoming years.
According to the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) the number of people living with brain disease is expected to double by 2050, creating new challenges for healthcare systems, patients, and families worldwide.
There has been a huge increase in brain inactivity due to our brain functionality being changed by constantly staring at smartphones, computers, and tablet screens. It shifts out neural capacity to programed surface level thinking. We are trained to seek instant gratification.
So, what can we do? The answer is Brain Molding.
Previously I shared that Andrew Huberman a top neuroscientist and professor at Stanford University said, “our brains are plastic, and we have the ability to change and shape them.”
Did you know that our brain is constantly being reshaped based upon the information that is being fed to it? It’s true.
For example, if you are someone who constantly complains, your brain will make it easier to find things to get upset about. Conversely, if you are a person who is optimistic or hopeful, then your brain will present you with more opportunities to be thankful and grateful. Interesting!
Maybe this is what Proverbs 23:7 referred to; as a person thinks, their behavior will follow. And in Mark 11 …you shall have what you say.
The good news is that we can still mold our brain because of its plasticity. Thanks to neuroplasticity we can change our thoughts to form new synaptic connections, and those connections create new behavior.
We can Naturally and Spiritually have a new mind!
For many of us, worry is a big problem that leads to uncontrolled fear and anxiety which was never meant to be our permanent state of mind.
It is not a matter of never feeling fear, which is a natural response to a threat or being anxious in anticipation of an upcoming event, the issue occurs when that’s who we become. Then it turns into a disorder.
Worry will damage your body, your mind, and your spirit. To stop worrying we must change what we believe about ourselves and God.
Worry presents to us 2 false conclusions.
1. What I’m facing is bigger and more powerful than my God.
2. I must face this alone. God will not be there for me.
To counter this, we must believe and confess that God is all powerful, trustworthy, righteous and always good to us, then we can reshape our brains from worrying into trusting. All things will be new!
With training we can mold our brains to stop believing negative thoughts and break old habits that maybe we’ve had since childhood.
Neuroscience has proven that we can even change our desires, our brain controls our intellect, emotions and appetites. If we change what we think, then we can change what we want. That’s powerful!
Between the “God Spots” and Brain Molding we can reshape our brain and thus our life. BRAIN FAITH — Benton T. Thompson III
Intelligence is fluid, it’s not fixed, and our brain has capacity to continue to grow even in our older years.
It’s never too late to change or mold yourself into a new reality!
You are what you’ve said, and what you continue to say.
