THE PURPOSE OF PRAYER - PREVAILING Pt 2
In this final segment of The Purpose of Prayer, we are exploring Prevailing Prayer, a.k.a. the Prayers of the Righteous.
We know God can move mountains, but did you know that prayer moves God. More specifically, Prevailing Prayers.
God is moved by Prevaling Prayers because they demonstrate a genuine faith and steadfast belief in his character, purpose, will and timing.
Prevailing prayers don’t seek to force Gods hand, instead they show that you trust in his plan.
Today with so many things going on around us we need to be equipped with power, heavenly power, like Prevailing Prayer power!
The way to prevail in life is to hold onto the promises of God through persistent, fervent prayers. That’s what a Prevailing Prayer is.
Those prayers tenaciously stand on God’s word until the results He has promised are seen. Gods Will Be Done!
Prevailing Prayers require us to pray our answer into manifestation!
This is exactly what the prophet Habakkuk did, “I will stand on the wall and watch to see what he says unto me.” Habakkuk 2:1
The power in a prevailing prayer comes as a result of our heart being aligned with Gods heart. We become conjoined to His Purpose.
There is a difference between Prayer and Prevailing Prayers. Prayer is communication with God; Prevailing Prayers are a request for God to do something.
Prevailing Prayers are generally categorized into 3 different types.
1. A Request for God’s Mercy
2. A Request for Gods Intervention
3. A Request for Gods Strength
1. A Prayer Request for Gods Mercy is also known as a Prayer of Supplication – It displays humility & reliance for God alone to act on your behalf or for someone else. This is when you say, “This is a job for Gods Mercy!”
2. A Prayer Request for Gods Intervention a.k.a. Intercessory Prayer is when you request that God help someone else with their circumstances. When we do this, we become more invested and mindful of the needs of others. Lord! Please Help them!
3. A Prayer Request for Gods Strength is also known as a Prayer of Contention, that’s where we are asking for Gods Strength to manifest in a situation. To many this is a Prayer for Spiritual Warfare, when you request Spiritual assistance to contend/fight a Spiritual battle. You need heavens host to fight! Lord please contend with those unseen forces.
Based upon where you are in life, you will need all 3 of these to make it through.
Throughout this series on the Purpose of Prayer we have explored several reasons why we should pray.
Bottom line is, WE NEED GOD! Every day, all-day.
Many use prayer to get what’s in Gods hands, He wants us to get what’s in His Heart!
We need to trust God that His Plan is better than our plan.
