THE OTHER BRAIN - WHAT ARE WE TO DO WITH IT

I want us to pick up where we left off previously with the knowledge provided for us by Dr. J.A. Armour’s discovery in 1991 that the heart possesses its own independent nervous system with more than 40,000 neurons working in a complex network just like the brain.

Also, recent advancements in technology like single-cell RNA research and other techniques have shed even greater light on the extensive functioning of the hearts nervous system called the “Heart Brain”.

Since science was able to confirm that we do in fact have “another brain” a.k.a. the Heart Brain so let’s proceed from that point.

Previously I shared that the Bible has always acknowledged the Heart as the main component of a person’s life.

Throughout its 66 books, the Heart is referenced more than 1000 times. It is consistently referred to as our core, which houses emotions, desires, and is the center of thought. Rarely did it refer to the Heart as a physical organ. While the word “brain” is not mentioned even once in the Bible.

So, What are we to do with our Other Brain, the Heart Brain?

I recommend that we go back to the Bible to find out what we should do with it given that it is the foremost authority on the Heart.

The overwhelming number one recommendation and guidance from the Bible concerning the Heart, is to guard it. Because this is the place where our decisions, actions, thoughts and words originate from.

Which begs the question, What should we be guarding our Heart from?

Many of us have likely heard the popular idiom, “you are what you eat”. The Bible takes that a bit further, suggesting We are What We Think!

Let’s look at a text message that Solomon sent us without using IOS or Android. He didn’t even have a Blackberry; he used the Spiritual air waves in the Bible for this text message.

“As a person thinks in their heart, so they are” Proverbs 23:7.

The Hebrew word for “thinks” is translated to the word, calculates. “as one who calculates within himself, so is he,” or “he is like one who is inwardly calculating.”

“Calculate” suggests that value was added to something through a reasoning process. An estimation was made from what was believed.

This proverb written by the wisest man to have ever lived King Solomon tells us that a person’s inner thoughts, beliefs, and true motivations all come from their Heart. “As a person thinks in their heart, so they are”

Sometimes a text will be referred to, without a full understanding of the context of what was spoken. Let’s make sure we get the full context of the text that King Solomon sent regarding Proverbs 23.

“Do not eat the bread from a person who is selfish; Do not desire their delicacies. As a person thinks in their heart, so they are. Translation. For they are like one who is inwardly calculating.

‘Just Eat and drink!’ don’t worry about consequences, they say to you, but their heart is not concerned about you. Surely you will vomit up the morsels that you have eaten from them and lose something far greater.

Wow! Wow! Wow! One more time. Wow! Selah and Say Less!

Brother Solomon is still helping us out today. #Solomon-is-a-bad-dude

He just cracked the code for us. We are to guard our Heart from the things and people whose motives don’t align with our own.

For if/when we do align with those things that don’t align with us, not only will they affect us, but surely, they will also infect us!

Wrong thoughts are generally the cause of wrong actions.

This text message confirms it.

“The things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the Heart, and it can defile them. Out of the Heart can come evil thoughts” Matthew 15

The Heart dictates our actions and thus foretells our character.

“As water reflects a face; so too does the Heart reflects a person’s character” Prov. 27

“Search me O God, and know my Heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts” Psalm 139

Can you see the pattern between Thoughts and The Heart?

Thoughts are not mere words, Thoughts are images or pictures!

Pictures that display a certain behavior pattern.

That’s where this saying comes from, one picture is a thousand words.

Solomon reminds us to be aware of who or what is showing us the pictures that we are thinking about, meditating on, and then manifesting.

In the garden of Eden, God showed Adam a picture of Life.

Also in that same garden, the deceiver showed him a picture of death.

Be watchful of who is showing you pictures. They will soon become your new reality.

My prayer for us is from another person who sent us a text.

O Lord may the eyes of the understanding of our Heart be enlightened so that we (our inner self) may see and recognize the great things you have called us to.
