THE OTHER BRAIN - THE OTHER YOU

‍If you’ve been following along on this journey, then you already know that a discovery was made which determined that the Heart functions like the Brain and has a mind of its own. Hence, the title, The Other Brain.

For a refresher please see,  THE OTHER BRAIN - WHO’S REALLY IN CONTROL HERE — Benton T. Thompson III

‍Previously we learned how the Heart Brain got its name; then next we learned that we should guard it at all costs.

‍But we haven’t discussed yet, its Purpose?

‍Why does our Heart have a Brain? That’s the 10-million-dollar question.

‍Perhaps you’ve experienced a time when you said to yourself, Now where did that thought come from? Or why did I say that?

You felt that what was suggested didn’t really seem like you. It was like it came from someone else.

‍A world-renowned evangelist described his experience this way, “The things that I don’t desire to do, I do. And the things I desire to do, I don’t.”  - Paul

‍It felt like those words originated from another place/another person.

‍Well, they did!

‍You see the Heart Brain, that’s deep within you, makes up another you. This other you, is the Inner You, or what some say is the Real You!

‍Scientific studies of mental processes call this your subconscious, the part of you that is incognizant. An area in which you are unaware and uninformed about all that you are thinking! A lack of Metacognition.

‍Those different thoughts come from the Inner You/ Inner Being or Self.

‍We all know there is a side of us that others don’t see, as well as things that we don’t even know about us…that’s our Inner Being/Inner Self

‍As humans we tend to evaluate/categorize…judge a person based upon how they look, speak, act, what they have, and wear. But God looks at our Heart to see our true character, to see who we really are Inside.

‍Look at what it says in 1 Samuel, “God looks at the heart, but man looks on the outside”

That’s why the Heart is so significant, it represents the Real Inner You.

‍The Bible says we have 2 parts: the Inner Person and the Outer Person.

‍“Your Outer Person (the portrayed image, what others see) is diminishing, weakening and regressing, while your Inner Person (the Heart you, what God see’s) is steadily changing, learning, and seeking.” 2 Corinthians

‍We can easily get distracted by someone’s Outer Person and fail to see their Inner Person. IE; Homeless but Honorable. Wealthy but Wicked. Religious but Rude. Looking good, but…well, you get the point.

‍David wrote a Psalm about his Inner Person. Lord, I want to be truthful in my Inner Man, and in those hidden and unseen parts help me to be wise.

He knew, things that enter your Inner Self / Your Heart can shape your character.

‍That’s why we’re told to guard our Heart, to help strengthen and develop our Inner Person/ our Inner Self.

‍“A person who has inner good in their heart, will bring forth good treasures to produce more good; and the person who has inner evil, will bring forth more evil things out of their heart. At judgement, everyone will be held responsible for what came out of their mouth” Matthew 12

‍Why will be judged on what we say? They’re just word! Because “The words that come out of your mouth come from your heart” Matthew 15

‍The state of our Heart not only impacts our Natural condition, but it also affects our Eternal position. On what path is our Heart leading us?

‍Others can’t see our Heart; but our words tell them all they need to know.

‍Several places throughout the Bible it speaks of the Outer and Inner Self.

Do you know another name for the Inner Self? It’s Your Soul!

“David encouraged himself (Inner Self) bless the Lord, O my soul

Self and Soul are synonymous. Our Heart houses our Soul.

The Heart-Brain is the command center of your Soul.

That’s why when your Heart stops, your Soul leaves your body.

Soul, Body, and Spirit. Heart Brain is where the Soul is.

The Heart is considered the center of the soul by acting as the seat of emotions, intuition, and spiritual awareness. It acts as a bridge to move us from mere human existence to experiencing spiritual purpose.

The Heart is our own personal repository where our consciousness, decisions, judgements, and morals are all housed.

‍David said, “Hide you Word in my Heart O Lord!” Because he knew firsthand that the Mind can be easily caught off guard or distracted.

‍The Heart is the Engine that leads and pulls our Train of Thought into both the Natural and Spiritual territories that we travel through.

‍It determines whether you stay on the tracks or get derailed. If we will show mercy or be merciless, repent or revolt, be kind or be cunning.

‍The Heart is responsible for how we relate to others and to God.

Where is your heart leading you? Just ask those closest to you, they know, they’ve heard what you said.

When we align our Hearts desires with our intended purpose, it will lead us into a deeper connection with our creator/father/God.

When was the last time you had your heart checked? Im not talking about the organ in your chest. Your Heart Brain!
