GRACE MORE OR LESS
In our last talk, I asked the question, What is Grace?
One of the more common definitions given is, Grace is Gods unmerited favor on us.
But why would we need Gods Favor? Didn’t He favor us when He created us? What happened? What changed?
Before answering, let’s make sure we understand the Biblical meaning of Gods Favor.
Favor in Hebrew is Chanan, (khaw-nan) it means to bend down or stoop in kindness to an inferior.
An expanded meaning of the word khaw-nan is to pitch a tent, encamp, abode, dwell, rest.
Why would God need to bend down for us?
Adam (a human prototype and the 1st Believer) broke covenant with God, when he decided not to trust what God told him. That created S.I.N. (Separation, Isolation, Non-Compliance) between humanity and God. HAVE I SINNED? — Benton T. Thompson III.
As a result, He/We became trespassers and were removed from Gods presence/Eden. Someone who stays on someone else’s property without the owner’s approval is a trespasser. We were unhoused, banished, and unsheltered.
But God, In His Divine Favor, chose to bend down to our level and restore us, and then He made His abode/dwelling with us.
That’s why we need Favor!
Now would be a good time to say, Thank you Lord for your Favor!
Some say Grace is God’s forgiveness of sin, but that is only the lessor part of what Grace does.
Grace forgives us for Adams original sin of separation, SIN and we also get Grace for now, when we still refuse to trust God in our daily lives.
But again, that’s the least of what Grace does for us. That’s Less Grace. Which is wonderful, but there is more.
Isn’t that enough? Is more Grace needed than that? Yes, We still need More Grace! But Why?
Grace is defined as unearned favor, but what if you could earn it? What if you had earned it. Would you still need Grace? Let’s find out.
According to Romans 15, the gift of Grace is not like the trespass of sin/separation. For many died by the sin of trespass on one man’s life, (Adam) but many more would live by the gift of grace on another man’s life (Jesus) and that grace would flow from Him to so many more.
Here we see that Jesus had Grace on His life. But why would He need Grace? He didn’t sin!
He didn’t need unearned or unmerited favor; he already had favor. He is Favor. He is the Son of God!
So, Why would Jesus need favor?
For the same reason that you and I do! For More Grace!
Jesus didn’t come to show us how the Divine can tolerate Human law, but rather how Humanity can triumph under Divine Law!
He needed Grace to do that. We need Grace to do that!
The reason some of us Humans/Believers/Adamites, aren’t triumphing under Divine Law like they did is because we don’t have the Grace for it!
Jesus triumphed under Divine Law with a type of Grace.
His Disciples triumphed under Divine Law with a type of Grace.
The early Church triumphed under Divine Law with a type of Grace.
Many in the Bible triumphed under Divine Law with a type of Grace.
We too can triumph under Divine Law with a type of Grace.
