DISRUPTORS - PURPOSE FOR PAIN

Previously, I introduced the notion that Disruptions, while considered unpleasant & untimely, may in fact be used to serve a Divine Purpose.

I shared how Every Disruption needs a Disruptor, and every Disruptor needs a Disruption, which is a critical key to their identity and calling.

We also spoke about how everything has a purpose, even a Disruption. One of the purposes of Disruption is to reveal and empower a Disruptor.

No one knew a teenage boy, David, before his Disruption, Goliath. Without a Devastating Disruptive World Class Flood, an old man, Noah, who knew nothing about shipbuilding, would have gone unnoticed. Anjeze Gonxhe Bojaxhiu was transformed by Disruptive deaths, caused by HIV/AIDS and leprosy, into a Saint of the Gutters, known as Mother Teresa.

Disruptions, though they are moments of uncertainty, they can also become a great catalyst for change and growth.

Trouble Transforms. Breakups cause Breakouts. Challenges lead to Change. Hurt to Heroics. Fear to Fearlessness and Pressure to Purpose.

Every Disruption is a part of a greater plan.

You can be known for one thing but remembered for something else.

Each Disruption in our life has a Divine role to play that can only be realized once we learn to embrace the 4 - Principles of Disruption.

Principle # 1Disruption of Expectations. We must be willing to let go of what we thought things would be like. This is by far one of the toughest principles, that’s why it’s the first, or foundational one.  Progress disrupts Normalcy. When something is shaken up, it’s being shaken to disrupt what has settled. Have you settled in some areas? The Desired Goal is Growth through Adaptation.

Principle # 2Disruption of Anxiety. Fear, worry, doubt, can all be a Lukewarm Comfortable Trap used to keep us from facing discomfort. We must be willing to be uncomfortable. Growth always takes place during discomfort. Allow Fear to lead you into Fearlessness. Fear is a Disruption. Fear is a Change Agent. It can change you or it can change your mindset. Fear Not! The Desired Goal is to increase Hope

Principle # 3Disruption of Intellect. Don’t think you are smart enough to figure this out, you cannot. When we think we know everything that’s Idolatry. Lean not on your own understanding but Seek God. The Desired Goal is Trust

Principle # 4Disruption of Self Loathing. Our immediate reaction to a disruption is that I must have done something wrong. This is unfair. Why did this happen to me. God is punishing me. Resist the temptation to believe this is something that you have brought upon yourself. The Desired Goal is to Reframe our Thinking

Here’s the Truth of the matter: God uses life's “Disruptions” to show us who He is in our life. Notice I didn’t say he creates them, but he will use them to serve His purpose for us. All things are made to work for us.

Disruptions serve as opportunities for us to be led, shaped, comforted, and protected by God. Whether it’s as small as a minor change of schedule, cancelling of an event, flat tire or something bigger like an unexpected death, illness, loss of job, foreclosure or even a pandemic.

God is right there in it with us!

What we see as Issues, are Invitations from God for us to seek His strength and wisdom so we can grow through, not just go through.

Every Disruption has a Purpose.

The word Disruptor originates from the Latin verb disrumpere, which means "to break apart”.

There are some things in our life that need to be broken, to be set in their proper place for us to be as healthy as we are supposed to be.

Much like when a surgeon breaks a bone so that it can set properly.

Here are a few ways in which Disruptions reset some things in our life.

-         Disruptions are one way in which God displays the level of grace on our life. You thought that an event like the one you just went through would have surely taken you out. But God’s Grace had other plans. Our consciousness of God’s Grace sometimes needs to be reset

-         Disruptions can help bring about a change of pace in our life. They can help to either slow down or speed up our timing. Time is limited and timing is essential. Disruptions reset timing.

-         Disruptions help us to see our human limitations and the need for a dependance on an Almighty God. If it had not been for God…

-         God uses Disruptions to display His will for us by clarifying our calling. Disruptions can develop you. They can reset our calling.

-         Disruptions can be used to shift our focus/perspective. Instead of resisting them we can seek to learn from them. They help reset priorities. Sometimes we can become Spiritually Complacent.

There are many cases of regular "divine disruptions", like unexpected career or relationship transitions, health challenges, broken plans, missed appointments, or any variety of other things, while they may be uncomfortable, they can be used to produce a great harvest of peace and trust in our Heavenly Father.

Disruptions bring about transformation, innovation, and constructive change like we saw in the Civil Rights, Women’s Suffrage, Disability Rights, anti- Apartheid, Ni Una Menos, End Sars, and Farmer Protest in India.

“The disruptions that we encounter in this life, seem to amplify and illuminate the lessons that we need to learn the most” - Benton Thompson III
